Gor Mahia endured a heartbreaking 2-0 loss to Nigerian champions Lobi Stars to crash out of the the Caf Champions League on Saturday in Enugu.

The Kenyan champions went into the match carrying a 3-1 advantage but conceded two late goals that sealed their fate on the account of away goals in favour of the Nigerians.

For the second year running it was a case of too near yet too far in Gor’s quest for that coveted passage to the group stages of Africa’s premier club competition.

Prior to the match, K’Ogalo coach Hassan Oktay had made clear his objectives in this fixture.

LATE GOALS

“We are ready, there’s no fear, with the kind of quality at my disposal, everybody knows what to do on the pitch,” he said.

However, Gor Mahia put themselves in a precarious position after they conceded a goal in the 71st minute for a nervy finish to the match played at Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu state.

Their fate was sealed with two minutes remaining on the clock when Lobi Stars scored the match wining goal.

Just like last season, K’Ogalo will yet again be subjected to a play-off match for a place in the group stages of the second tier Caf Confederations Cup.
