Gor Mahia lose potential signings to Posta Rangers

By DAVID KWALIMWA December 10th, 2014 1 min read

Gor Mahia has lost out on two of its main transfer targets in this transfer window, Nairobi News can exclusively reveal.
The Kenyan Premier League back-to-back champions are having a month to forget, coming in the wake of losing two established players, Geoffrey “Baba” Kizito and Dan Sserunkuma, who have joined clubs in Vietnam and Tanzania respectively.
There are also reports that the duo will be joined by Kenya international David “Calabar” Owino who is said to be on the verge of moving to Tanzania.
The loss of these players has further been aggravated by the club’s failed bid to sign Sony Sugar defender Charles Odette and Ushuru midfielder Geoffrey Kataka with the two promising players instead opting to join the newly promoted Posta Rangers.
FINANCIAL CHALLENGES
Gor Mahia approached me back in November, but through some emissaries. I was very interested (in moving) and we had a deal in place. Then I waited and waited but they never gave me an official offer. So I opted to join Rangers, a very ambitious team which has made good its word,” Odette told Nairobi News moments after he was unveiled by Rangers.
Gor Mahia is also said to have delayed in tying down Kataka to a contract despite agreeing on personal terms.
The club’s financial challenges are said to have worsened in recent weeks, owing to the absence of Chairman Ambrose Rachier the main facilitator , who is away on holiday in the USA.
