Gor Mahia official on the mend after tragic accident

By Cecil Odongo October 20th, 2022 2 min read

Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ochola has led the club’s Executive Committee and fans in wishing the club treasurer Dolphina Odhiambo a quick recovery after she was involved in a grisly road accident in Bomet County.

Odhiambo is recuperating at Nairobi Hospital after the accident which occurred at Kaplong Trading Center. She was driving to her home in Homa Bay at the time of the accident.

“On behalf of the Executive Committee, the club fans, and Gor Mahia fraternity, we wish our treasurer a quick recovery and good health following the accident. We thank God for saving her life and stand with her as a club during this moment as she continues to receive treatment,” said Ochola.

Odhiambo told Nairobi News that the car she was driving collided head-on with a lorry when she was avoiding hitting a speeding motor vehicle from the opposite direction.

She was then rushed to a clinic in Kaplong before being transferred to Nairobi in an ambulance.

“My right leg is fractured. I can’t feel my left leg too. Being alive is a miracle because this was a very bad accident,” Odhiambo said.

“I would like to thank everyone who has spared time to wish me well. I thank God for coming out of this alive,” she added.

Former Gor Mahia Organising Secretary Judith Anyango, who paid Odhiambo a visit at the hospital, told Nairobi News the club official is in stable condition.

“She is still in the casualty ward. She has also suffered multiple injuries on her right leg,” said Anyango.

Odhiambo is among the four elected members of Gor Mahia Executive Committee.

She was elected to the role in August 2020 together with chairman Ambrose Rachier, Ochola and vice chairman Francis Wasuna.
