Gor Mahia’s Aucho in Facebook rant after criticism
Gor Mahia’s Khalid Aucho wasted no time in posting a foul mouthed rant on social media on Monday, moments after he became subject of criticism on a TV sports show.
The performance of the Ugandan midfielder during his club’s 2-2 draw against Tusker over the weekend was the centre of discussion during Supersport’s PlayBack show on Monday night.
The two clubs had faced off in a Top 8 competition’s semi final clash.
But the Ugandan international seemed in no mood to take any criticism. He declared “didn’t come to Kenya to be praised or win the admiration and individual awards”.
“My family, friends and fans know about my temper and have always supported me. I don’t care about anything or anyone else,” Aucho declared in a Facebook post on his official account.
The post was later deleted.
Aucho, incidentally a former Tusker player, added that he “didn’t care” what people thought of him, a message that prompted intense discussion by football supporters on social media.
This prompted PlayBack’s show host Chiko Lawi to respond to some of the feedback while the weekly show was ongoing.
“We appreciate your feedback but remember we use this show to try improve the standards of football in the country,” he said.
Aucho’s fightback was prompted by comments from the show’s panelists Jacob Mulee, Salim Ali and Gilbert Selebwa.
The trio, all of whom are coaches, had uniformly agreed that Aucho and teammate Harun Shakava should have been sent off during the match due to foul play and indiscipline.
Aucho in particular was criticised for his reckless tackles, shoves, plus constantly confronting the match officials.
Reference was also made of Gor Mahia’s loss to Azam in the Cecafa Kagame Cup in mid this year, and in particular an incident where Aucho appeared to elbow Tanzanian attacker John Bocco.
