Gospel musician Ringtone embroiled in Runda land grab drama – VIDEO

Gospel singer Alex Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone, is on the spot for allegedly grabbing a house in Runda.

The house allegedly belongs to a deceased foreigner, but a Kenyan family claims to have been living in it for more than 35 years now.

According to NTV, the singer attempted to kick out the family without following due process.

The family’s lawyer said the family has been occupying the house for the past 35 years.

Strangely, the singer claims that he has been paying rent and has lived in the house for the past two years.

TREATED LIKE THIEVES

“I do not want to be involved in the controversy of that land, I have been paying rent and the landlord has not told me to vacate the house. The people who came over were treated like thieves and were beaten and arrested by the police,” he said.

The family’s lawyer claims that the singer came to the house with one of the owner’s nephew and tried to kick the family out.

“It all started about four months ago when the singer came here with the owner’s nephew and tried to take over everything. They came with wielding machine and burglarised the house,” said Jimmy Sausi, the family’s lawyer.

The lawyer claims that Ringtone rammed on parked cars in the compound, but the singer denies doing anything like that.

“I was called by a neighbour that there were people who were cutting my fence,” he said. “So I mobilised security guards to come to my rescue.”
