Governor Mutua runs into hostile crowd at Maendeleo Chap Chap rally – VIDEO
Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua seems to be facing a tough time in his bid to popularize his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
Dr Mutua officially launched this new political outfit last year and has since announced his intent to defend his gubernatorial seat on its ticket come August.
The party has also declared it will be backing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election during the August elections, even as it fields candidates to contest in all the other elective seats.
HECKLED
The party popularization project is however encountering teething problems, after the Governor was recently heckled by perceived opposition diehards at a recent rally.
In an undated amateur video in Nairobi News possession, Dr Mutua who has since quit the Wiper Party, is seen and heard failing to convince his audience to rally behind his new party.
Instead, the crowd responds to his chants of “Maendeleo” with choruses of “Wiper” and “Nasa”.
Mutua will face stiff opposition from Wavinya Ndeti, who has been cleared to contest the Machakos County gubernatorial seat on a Wiper ticket.
