Governor Mutua to ‘build tarmac roads’ in Makueni, Kitui
Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has pledged to tarmac roads in neighboring Makueni and Kitui counties.
Governor Mutua gave the pledge to residents on Friday as he took his Maendeleo Chap Chap and Unity campaign to Makueni and Kitui counties.
During stopovers in Emali and Sultan Hamud in Makueni County, Dr Mutua said he will lobby the national government to tarmac the Emali-Ukia and Sultan-Kasikeu-Kyambeke roads.
He said the roads have been in a poor state for long and if tarmacked will aid trade and transport in the county.
DIVIDING THE KAMBA
Governor Mutua also held rallies in Kibwezi, Mbui Nzau, Kiboko and Masimba where he said Maendeleo Chap Chap is a national campaign and is aimed aimed at dividing the Kamba community.
“It is surprising that when I talk about development I’m told that I’m dividing the community. Those are politics of poverty, “said Governor Mutua.
He also pledged to talk to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure the Kibwezi – Kitui and Kambu -Loitoktok roads are also tarmacked.
“I want to tell you that these roads will be done. I practice politics that will help our people and not those of empty rhetoric, “said Dr Mutua.
Dr Mutua used a fleet of three helicopters during the tour and was accompanied by eight MPs, MCAs from the region, former MPs and councilors.
“I have said that the movement is unstoppable and will liberate the region politically and economically. Those opposing it are against development,” he said.
DRUNK YOUTHS
He said his focus on holding consultative forums and extensive meet-the -people rallies that will give wananchi opportunities to interact with their leaders.
A group of youths attempted to disrupt the Makindu rally but were chased away by members of the public.
“The youths had been given alcohol and were drunk. It is a shame to use vulnerable youth to cause chaos instead of finding solutions to their problems,” said Governor Mutua.
Ukambani MPs who have thrown their weight behind Governor Mutua include Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), John Munuve (Mwingi North) , Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central) and Itwiku Mbai (Masinga).
The Machakos Governor also urged Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana and his Kitui counterpart Julius Malombe to join the Maendeleo Chap Chap team which he said had the interests of the people at heart.
