Graveyard families evicted

Two families that were living on the Commonwealth graveyard on Bunyala Road were evicted after a media expose.

According to Peter Odera who has worked in the graveyard for over two years, the two families were evicted by the County government officers a week after airing of the families’ story.

“They were suspected to abetted several of the muggers and rapists in the area since 2010,” said Odera.

Specifically, they were accused of being complicit in the raping of two women.

It was however not immediately clear why the authorities waited until the expose to embark on the eviction of the families.

They have lived in the graveyard for several years as crime in the area thrived.

The graveyard was made for veteran soldiers who served in the first and Second World War.
