Gunmen on motorbike shoot guard at Sarit Centre

A security guard was on Sunday shot and seriously injured by gunmen at Sarit Centre.

Nairobi County Police Commander Benson Kibue said two gunmen riding on a motorcycle shot the guard who was manning the gate located on Lower Kabete Road.

Sarit Centre is one of Nairobi’s upmarket shopping mall. It is located a short distance from the Westgate shopping mall that was the scene of a bloody terrorist attack by Al-Shabaab Islamists last year.

“The security guard from the BM Securities was shot twice by one of the men who had a pistol before they escaped,” Mr Kibue said.

The guard has been rushed to MP Shah hospital for treatment.

Mr Kibue says police are searching for the suspects.

“We are also yet to know why they shot at the guard; whether they were on a robbery mission” he said.
