Harambee Stars ready to tackle Guinea Bissau

Fired up Harambee Stars will leave the country on Monday morning for Guinea Bissau for a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday.

Head coach Stanley Okumbi has expressed confidence that the team will post a positive result.

“So far I’m impressed. The sessions have gone on as planned and we are ready for the match. We want to go there and fight to win,” Okumbi said moments after a morning workout at the Utalii College.

Some 11 players, technical bench members and federation officials will travel in a chartered flight for a seven-hour trip to Guinea Bissau.

TRAVEL PLANS

At the same time, Football Kenya Federation president, Nick Mwendwa said that all travel and accommodation plans are in place.

“We sent out an advanced party of two who have been tasked with putting in place all the logistics for the team’s successful stay. I will travel with the team and we are not leaving anything to chance,” Mwendwa said.

Mwendwa added that skipper Victor Wanyama of English Premier League Southampton will link up with the team by Tuesday morning.
