Why Stars are shifting from Nairobi West ‘sex orgy’ camp
The national football team is set to relocate from a hotel in Nairobi West that was reportedly the scene of a sex orgy moments to a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier match against Zambia.
The team’s managers have forwarded a request to the Federation of Kenya Football for the team to be relocated to a “closed venue” to deter a repeat of the incident early this month.
The incident, exclusively exposed by Nairobi News, involved three players who managed to sneak a female companion to the team’s hotel. The errant players were said to be a midfielder and two strikers.
Other senior players are said to have taken advantage of the hotel’s proximity to pubs in the area to routinely go out on drinking sprees after training.
The incident prompted the bench to drop senior players deemed to be indiscipline or uncommitted ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifier against Mauritius.
“We have asked the Federation to move us away from the CBD. This will mean the team will have to get transport to and from the training venue daily but such are the sacrifices we have to make for the sake of the team,” a member of the technical bench told Nairobi News.
Harambee Stars had camped at the Nairobi West hotel in the run up to international games against Congo Brazzavile, Ethiopia and Zambia.
The hostels at Moi sports stadium, Kasarani, would have been the most ideal camping place for the Stars, but that seems unlikely considering the federation’s long standing bad reputation at the facility.
Meanwhile, head coach Bobby Williamson is set to make tactical changes to his squad in the Mauritius game.
Reports indicate that David ‘Calabar’ Owino, normally deployed at right back, will move to his preferred central defence position to partner Brian Mandela, while a new partner will be sought for Victor Wanyama in central midfield.
The team will assemble on Sunday for the two legged encounter against the Islanders.
