Hawkers cause havoc on new multimillion mall in Eastleigh – PHOTOS
Hawkers in Eastleigh on Wednesday morning caused havoc in a newly constructed multi-million shilling shopping mall after the owner refused to let them sell their wares in front of it.
Tenants have just began occupying the newly opened mall and the owner was said to be keen to keep hawkers away from the premise.
The hawkers however put up a fight, blocked the road and eventually shattered the mall’s windows using stones and crude weapons.
They claimed they paid the Nairobi County government to get licenses to hawk outside the premises.
The busy Eastleigh 1st Avenue was a no go zone as police officers fired in the air to disperse the riotous hawkers. Motorists were diverted to Juja Road to get to their destination.
