Hii imeenda! Akothee’s ex-boyfriend Nelly Oaks trolled on social media

Nelson Oyugi, popularly known as Nelly Oaks, is the last popular man singer Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, was in a relationship with before she tied the knot on April 10, 2023, to her Caucasian husband, Denis Schweizer, alias Mr Omosh.

Back in the day, Akothee and Nelly Oaks would not let Kenyans catch a break as they overshared their love on social media, their blended family vacations and so forth.

Just as was with Mr Omosh during their dating days, Akothee also publicly showered her love on Nelly Oaks before they broke up in June 2022.

At first, it was hard to know if the break-up was legitimate or a clout-chasing move, but it turned out to be true.

Since then, Nelly Oaks faded into the background as Akothee emerged months later with Mr Omosh, heating up social media pages with their sentimental love updates. On Nelly Oaks’ side, his socials were full of motivational quotes.

A week before Akothee was set to marry, Nelly Oaks updated his last Instagram post, saying, “Can’t stop won’t stop.

#fridaygrind.” It was on this post that his followers and critics seemingly clashed when people started commenting on his social media page that his “wife” was getting married elsewhere.

This is because, in 2018, Oaks was quoted in the media saying he will marry Akothee; and at one point, confirmed that they were married.

Nairobi News sampled some of the trolling views that followers left in his comment section:

“😢😢😢😢wooooi kama.kuna mwanaume anaumia sa hii vibaya mahali ako ni huyu aki (if there is a man hurting really badly right now it is this one),” said nyammaureen.

“Bibi yako anaolewa bana,” added Japhary Jumaz.

“Nelly mambo inachemkaa😂,” said Arcmartin.

“Nelly tuko live huku weeding ndio imeshika (we are on live on this side, the wedding is becoming more awesome) 😂😂😂😂😂😂,” added Sharon Boen.

“Wakenya, imebidi mtafute Nelly🤣🤣🤣,” said Mercquin.

In turn, however, there were others who defended him against trolls over his failure to keep Akothee by his side.

“You deserve better. Those wallowing here, Akothee this Akoth that. May I remind you this isn’t her first man and we are all praying it will be her last. So there is nothing to glorify over . Her choices, her life. As for Nelly you deserve better in your own way. You are still young and very aspiring of greater things.  Sasa mtu ako na watoto (Now someone with children) almost Nelly’s age ndio mnataka kusumbulia (is who you want to borhter Nelly about) Nelly surely ??? Be real guys! He has nothing to loose. In fact, on normal humanitarian grounds, he has kept his sanity and decency..Akothee on the other side ako tu sawa (she is just fine). That is her normal way of life. We just pray she finally got what she wants/deserves. Dragging Nelly into this only explains how lame one can be,” Mo Mumbi defended Oaks.
