Homa Bay CEC nominee: I’m ready to leave Sh880,000 pay for Sh350,000

A minister nominated by Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga to lead the health docket surprised the vetting panel by suggesting she is okay with resigning from a job that pays her Sh 880,000 a month in favour of the county role in which she will receive Sh350,000 each month.

Ms Roselyn Omolo made the revelations during her vetting.

She claimed to have difficulties coping with the hustle and bustle of Nairobi, where she currently works, and would prefer the slower Homa Bay.

She also confirmed her plans to relocate to Homa Bay if she is cleared to hold office, arguing the cost of living is much lower as compared to Nairobi.

Ms Omolo was the first to appear before the panel chaired by House speaker Julis Gaya and was also asked to declare her wealth and share a roadmap on how she plans to address the health challenges in the county.

She told the committee that she has worked at the council of governors and is worth Sh20 million.

“I drive but the car does not solely belong to me. It is registered under my name and a friend,” she said, while also expressing interest in serving the people of Homa Bay.
