How Anerlisa Muigai’s social media rant cost her millions

Anerlisa Muigai, daughter of billionaire businesswoman Tabitha Karanja, appears to have ranted her way into trouble.

This after auctioneers stormed her Nairobi home in an attempt to attach her property so as to recover a debt worth millions of shillings.

Court papers in Nairobi News possession indicates the debt emanates from a court case in 2018, when Dennis Mwangeke Mombo, a director at lender Mwananchi Credit Limited filed a case seeking damages for defamation.

Mombo and Mwananchi were responding to a claim in which Anerlisa is said to have put up not so pleasant social media posts about Mombo and the financial institution.

Mombo won the case, with the judgement indicating the statements by Anerlisa were extremely damaging. He was awarded Sh2.5 million.

Anerlisa, whose family owns Keroche Breweries among other business, was also ordered by the court to pull down all the offensive publications on social media.

In her defence, Anerlisa, the Chief Executive of Nero Water brand, claims she was ‘lured’ into signing for a Sh13 million loan by a friend and placing some of her vehicles as security.
