How Obama almost confused the decoy for the ‘Beast’

As Kenyans followed the unfolding of the entry of US President Barack Obama into the country on Friday evening, one rather unusual event happened.

President Obama approached the decoy limo to board it as he left the airport only for US security officials to beckon at the real ‘Beast’.

Before he left the airport, President Obama enjoyed a catch-up moment with President Uhuru Kenyatta as they walked towards the decoy that was on the immediate end from the table where he had signed the visitors’ book.

Even as he signed the book, President Obama kept speaking to President Uhuru as they enjoyed a laugh.

As they approached the decoy, one security officer stretched out his hand to beckon at the real beast and President Obama shook his hand in return and walked towards the ‘Beast’.

President Obama was seemingly in high spirit as he arrived at his late father’s home country and even shared a warm hug with his sister Auma Obama.

UHURU’S MOTORCADE

Ms Auma was the lucky family member of the night as she boarded the Beast to for a ride with the American head of state.

After Obama’s motorcade left the airport, President Kenyatta however had to wait for a minute as his own motorcade approached the runway that had been under tight security.

He chatted for a while with Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero and Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery while waiting for his motorcade to make its way to the runway.

President Kenyatta was accompanied by several other government officials to welcome President Obama among them Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohammed and his son Jomo Kenyatta.

Jomo actually shared a longer handshake with President Obama compared to the government officials who had lined up to great the US head of state.

President Obama will be in the country till Sunday when he will leave for Ethiopia as his second leg of his African trip.
