How suspected mugger was arrested after robbing pedestrian in Huruma estate
A man accosted by the police immediately after allegedly robbing a pedestrian in Huruma estate, Nairobi is facing robbery with violence charges contrary to Section 296 (2) of the Penal Code.
Salvanas Ochieng has been charged with robbing Kelvin Ndirangu of his mobile phone worth Sh1,500 jointly with accomplices who escaped during the incident that happened on December 12, 2022.
The Makadara Law Courts heard how on the said date, Mr Ndirangu was attacked and robbed by four men armed with knives at the Huruma-Kariobangi roundabout.

The assailants fled in different directions after robbing the complainant but he raised an alarm while pursuing Mr Ochieng who had taken off with his cellphone.
Police officers who were on patrol responded and arrested Mr Ochieng who was allegedly found in possession of Mr Ndirangu’s phone and a knife.

Both the phone and the knife were kept as exhibits at the Huruma Police Station where investigations were undertaken.
Mr Ochieng denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Gathogo Sogomo and was remanded in custody.
The magistrate ordered a pre bail report with the case due to be mentioned on February 2, 2023 when the social inquiry report will be tabled before bail and bond terms are granted. Hearing of the case will commence on May 25, 2023.
