It was a feast for the eyes as designers from all over the world showcased their works at the Nairobi Fashion Week.

The fourth edition of Nairobi Fashion Week dubbed ‘Mama Afrika’ was held on 25th and 26th November 2016 at The Concord Hotel and Suites.

The collections on display were a mixture of everything from exotic, edgy, to simple but stylish designs. It featured various designers covering both garment and accessories.

The two-day event brought creative works from Kenya, Uganda, Benin and the Netherlands on one spectacular stage.

The uptown runway show attracted a decent amount of A-list celebrities that include gospel super star Jimmy Gait, video eye candy Tanasha Oketch, Teen Republic’s Martin Kimathi and singing sensation Ndegz.

LOCAL DESIGNERS

Speaking at the event Jimmy Gait revealed that he was scouting for local designers that he can work with.

The gospel artiste has often been castigated for his somewhat outrageous outfits with rumours doing the rounds about his sexual orientation.

Despite the criticism and innuendos propagated by his fashion choices, he continues to be daring in his dressing.

“Ever since I was a kid I have always loved fashion that’s why I always dress to kill. Of late, I have realized we have very talented local designers who are not getting the attention they deserve. Music is bigger than fashion in Kenya so I am hoping to leverage on my popularity to boost Kenyan fashion,” he said.
