A man in Ruiru, Kiambu County was on Sunday morning, September 11, 2022, shot dead as he tried to save his wife from the hands of armed robbers.
Police in Ruiru have launched a manhunt for the three robbers who they believe trailed the deceased Mr Geoffrey Sigei, 35, and his girlfriend Winfred Kairuthi, 34 from Ashaki Grill in Thome, Kiambu County.
A statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that the trio was driving inside a Silver Toyota Prado, TX.
“They had arrived at the apartment where Mr Sigei lives while in two separate vehicles at around 4:30am, when they were confronted by armed thugs,” the statement read in part.

Mr Samuel Wafula who is the guard to the apartment said that Mr Sigei was the first one to enter the gate and he was closely followed by the deceased who was driving a Mazda CX5.
After the vehicles had gone past the main gate, the three men forced their way inside and went straight to where Ms Winfred had parked and started ransacking it.
“As the deceased was parking his vehicle, he saw the thugs confronting Winfred and went to her aid, wielding a rungu,” the statement further read.
