I left SuperSport on my own terms, says football analyst Gaye
Former SuperSport presenter Mamadou Gaye quit the South African based channel after receiving a better offer in his homeland although the end of his tenure at the previous workstation was marred by “some politics”, Nairobi News can reveal.
The veteran journalist is renowned for his hitting analysis during live matches on SuperSport and in his appearances on the weekly Soccer Africa show hosted by Thomas Mlambo.
His sudden departure from the station alongside Mlambo which occurred within a span of weeks caused murmurs that suggested the duo was pushed out due to their tough stance on a wide range of issues.
“I heard that as well but never saw any evidence to support it. I received a better offer from the national broadcaster in my home country which I decided to consider and as you can see, am doing fine,” Gaye told Nairobi News on Saturday during a Caf-Fifa meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Malabo.
The respected Ivorian journalist meanwhile believes his home country will be up against a tough opponent in Ghana in their quest to win their second continental title when the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations concludes on Sunday.
