If it was for money, I wouldn’t have accepted RHON – Minne
Minne Kariuki Njugana aka Minne Cayy is known for speaking her mind without a filter. She is not only a screen actress but also a stage performer and an influencer. Minne also appears on the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Nairobi (RHON).
Yes, I am breastfeeding, but that doesn’t mean I can’t drink (alcohol).
It is a misconception that a breastfeeding mother can’t drink, I indulge a lot.
My opinion is, that if you are a breastfeeding mother and feel the need to indulge (drink), then you need to wait at least for us after taking the alcohol before you can breastfeed. This is to allow your body to wash the alcohol out of your system.
I started my year last year pregnant, gave birth, and then went through the worst postpartum (period). I lost a lot of blood. Nevertheless, I got back to grinding and got cast for the second season of Disco Matanga and that’s how I finished my 2024.
Right now I’m trying to raise awareness about something called postpartum hemorrhage, which I don’t think we talk about very much. Hours after giving birth I started bleeding, clots of blood coming out of me. It was an emergency because if you lose a lot of blood you die, according to my gynecologist, a lot of women die from it, especially those in marginalized areas.
Now I am a mother of two, I plan to have two more children and then close the chapter. I’m not thinking of surrogacy; I’m going to have to give birth.
It is time for me to make sticky notes of my New Year’s resolutions and put them somewhere where I can always see them and remember what I have set out to do. It’s kind of a compass for the direction of my life.
As for acting, I am tired of being cast as a slay queen. In most of the roles I get, people always want to cast me as a slay queen. I have had to turn down a number of those roles. I mean, give me a leadership role, a mother role, or even a madman role, I don’t mind, I’m versatile.
De-rolling after an intense role in a movie is the most difficult thing to do in Kenya because we do not have a system structure like Hollywood that helps actors to de-role. It is normal for Kenyan actors to carry the roles of the characters they played into their real lives.
I think the reason why Kenyans want to see me represent the country on the Young Famous and African Reality Show is because of my comebacks (clapbacks) on Real Housewives of Nairobi.
RHON (The Real Housewives of Nairobi) is not scripted, well, of course, the producers will twerk a few things here and there, they know your personality and that of the other (housewife) is oil and water and then decide to put you two in the same room, what do you expect if not explosive drama.
Vera and I had a fallout in season two, and to this day, we don’t talk. We are not okay. If it were scripted, why would we not be okay?
I agreed to be on the reality show because I was tired of the slay queen roles. If Real Housewives of Nairobi was about scripted acting, I would prefer to do other shows.
Was the bag (money from the show) good?
Hmph! (Makes a face)
