I’m not Kidero’s property, wife of ex-Nairobi governor tells anti-graft body

Dr Susan Akello Mboya, the wife of former Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero, has accused the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) of treating her as one of her husbands’ property.

Dr Kidero has been on the headlines since his home was raided by EACC detectives who are investigating his source of wealth which has also seen his wife intertwined in the probe.

This hasn’t gone down well with Dr Mboya and in an affidavit filed in a Nairobi court, she faulted EACC’s manner of handling her.

SEPARATE ENTITY

“The commission has treated me as though I am an appendage, extension of a property to Kidero, yet I am a separate legal entity and person entitled to own property without attachment to Kidero,” read part of her affidavit.

She also faulted the EACC of seizing her documents and other items personal to her which are not related to her husband during their raids in their home.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

Dr Mboya has further stated that she had acquired some of her properties being probed even before she was married to Dr Kidero.

“I am a professional lady of international standing with a substantial income of my own and not just a mere appendage and property of Kidero who is a dependent spouse as portrayed,” she added.

Dr Mboya has been married to the former CEO of Mumias Sugar Company for the last seven years.
