Mwamba RFC will host the inaugural Aberdeen Shikhoyi Cup on Sunday June 26, 2016 at the Railway Club, Nairobi.

The cup, named in honour of the late  inspirational club and Kenya captain Aberdeen Shikhoyi, will be contested by two franchise teams. The franchises will draw players from eight Nairobi-based clubs and have been named Ngong Rocks and Thika Road.

Ngong Rocks will comprise of host club Mwamba Ladies, Kenya Harlequins, Impala RFC and the newly formed Homeboyz RFC. Thika Road will see players from KCB Ladies, Kenyatta University’s Blak Babes, USIU and Shamas.

Shikhoyi succumbed to a fatal injury sustained while on national duty against Uganda’s Lady Cranes. She represented the national team in both the Sevens and Fifteens version of the game. Her life is also celebrated during the annual Kabeberi Sevens tournament. This year’s tournament will take place on August 13-14th at RFUEA Grounds.
