Is this the MP with the most worn out phone?
Kiharu MP Irungu Kang’ata is a man of many controversies, the latest being his campaign to stop President Barrack Obama from addressing gay rights during his upcoming visit to Kenya.
Last Sunday, however, when he stepped out to address a joint press conference with religious leaders, Mr Kang’ata earned himself another dubious distinction.
He posed for cameras carrying a smart phone that had surely seen better days.
This is despite enjoying a monthly salary and allowances rated among the best in the region.
During the press briefing, Mr Kang’ata asked the US government to agree that Kenyans are not ready to accept homosexuality and that a push in that direction would strain ties between the two countries.
“We are not prepared to accept, hear or listen to anyone lecturing us on how our culture is good or bad,” he said.
