My prayers made Raila PM, Bishop Wanjiru

September 17th, 2013 1 min read

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru on Sunday sensationally claimed that it was her fervent prayers that enabled Raila Odinga to become prime minister in the wake of the 2007/08 post-election chaos.

The prayers were made when Mr Odinga visited her Jesus is Alive Ministry sanctuary on Haile Selassie Avenue in early 2008, as the country burned at the height of the post election violence, she said.

Mr Odinga was in the company of then ODM secretary general William Ruto (now Deputy President after quitting ODM to team up with Uhuru Kenyatta in the Jubilee Alliance which trounced Raila in the March 4 elections).

When she asked Raila what he wished in his life at that time, he answered that he wanted to be Prime Minister, Wanjiru said in a charged sermon delivered to her JIAM congregation.
