Slain sixth-year medical student at Moi University, Ivy Wangechi, who was brutally murdered on Tuesday last week in Eldoret, will be buried on Thursday, her family has said.

According family members, who spoke to journalists on Sunday at their Makongeni home in Thika, Ivy will be buried at her parent’s home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.

Mr John King’ori, the family’s spokesperson and Ivy’s uncle, said they have let justice to take its course.

“We want to believe that the police are doing their best. The law must take its course. It’s not for us as a family to dictate which way it should go but the law is very clear on what happened,” said Mr King’ori.

PAINFUL LIES

The uncle also said they are expecting more than 1,500 people to attend the burial, noting that Ivy’s demise has already attracted a lot of public interests.

“We are expecting a lot of people to attend the burial ceremony and of course this comes with a lot of expenses which we currently cannot be able to meet. We have already introduced a pay bill number to Kenyans and we hope to get support from well-wishers,” he said.

The pay bill number is 855050 under ‘Ivy Wangechi send-off’ while the account number is the name of the well-wisher.

Meanwhile, Ivy’s grieving mother, Ms Winfred Waithera, has said lies being spread by bloggers about her daughter’s death have caused the family much pain and distress.
