Jadudi undergoes successful brain surgery


After undergoing a 4-hour brain surgery on Saturday morning, University of Nairobi student Emmanuel Otieno, better known as Jadudi, is well on the road to recovery.

According to Africa Cancer Foundation CEO Zawadi Nyong’o who tweeted the good news, Jadudi started talking at the ICU in Apollo Hospital in Chennai, India where the surgery was done.

“Who talks after a brain surgery,” a mesmerized Nyong’o tweeted.

Jadudu’s story has captured the attention of Kenyans in the last few weeks following a moving blog that was written by renowned blogger and columnist Jackson Biko.

#MILLI FOR JADUDI

The article titled, That thing in Jadudi’s head went viral when it was posted in Biko’s blog bikozulu.co.ke some three weeks ago and jumped started a fundraiser for the university student under the hashtag #1MilliforJadudi.

The campaign was spearheaded by Nyong’o eventually netted Sh6 million within 48 hours.

The 22-year-old university student from a humble background, was seeking financial help to go under the knife for the fourth time.

According to Biko it felt unreal how it all unfolded. Five hours after he posted Jadudi’s story Kenyans had contributed Sh1 million.

On social media where it all began, tweets have been flowing in with Nyong’o making sure that all those who contributed get the news first.
