Jaguar pockets Sh1.5m for a 45 minutes performance

A Kenyan university in Kigali shelled out more than Sh5 million to host musician Jaguar for an electrifying performance during a key function at the institution a fortnight ago.

And the popular musician, who is renowned for popular hits such as “Kioo”, “One Centimetre” and “Kigeugeu”, only performed for just under an hour.

“I’m upping the game in the Kenyan industry with regards to performance fees in order to compete with other international artistes,” Jaguar told Nairobi News, confirming the figures.

The musician was performing during the annual Mount Kenya University, Kigali campus Beauty pageant that was held at the institution a fortnight ago.

FIRST CLASS

The institution spent the cash to fly in Jaguar, who was flanked by his close pals, popular radio presenter Jalang’o, actor Mongolo and his backroom staff.

They flew to Kigali in first class and were booked at the swanky Serena Hotel. They were also handed a tour of Kigali’s tourism spots.

“He(Jaguar) is a very good chap, down to earth. He really entertained the kids and even took good card of those of us who were showing us round” Abraham Olwenyi, a senior official at the institution told Nairobi News.

The winning Miss and Mr MKU was each handed a branded car by the institution, which is owned by a Kenyan.
