Jalang’o, Alai triumph in ODM primaries


Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, has clinched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nomination for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat.

The media personality won the party primaries after garnering 3,509 votes against his closest competitor Oscar Omoke who got 1,612 votes.

The former radio presenter will now fly the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance ticket in Lang’ata where he will face off with the incumbent Nixon Korir.

Korir is vying on a UDA party ticket.

Jalang’o took it to his socials to celebrate after confirming his win.

“God has given me the chance to fly the Azimio Flag in the August Elections!! Thank you Langata! We are one step in! Now the real work begins!! God above everything!!”He wrote.

In February, Jalang’o, announced his resignation from his radio job to pursue his political ambitions.

Jalang’o while announcing his exit from the Kiss FM morning show in an Instagram video told his fans that he felt the conviction to further his political ambitions.

In November 2020, The former Kiss FM presenter and Youtuber graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development from Daystar University in Nairobi.

Jalang’o had previously explained that his decision to study Community Development for his undergraduate degree was tied to his political ambitions in the 2022 general election.

Another prominent victor was controversial blogger Robert Alai won the ODM ticket in Kileleshwa Ward after gathering 1,538 votes. His closest competitor garnered 545 votes.

But incumbent Kibra MP Imran Okoth was not as lucky. He lost the ODM ticket to Mwalimu Peter Orero. Peter Orero garnered 3,422 votes while Okoth got 2,739 votes.
