Jalang’o excited after his name was in the list of top performing MPs


Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour alias Jalang’o has celebrated being amongst the top 20 performing parliamentarians, according to the research done by Leeway Africa Research Agency.

In a post on his Twitter, Jalang’o who was ranked at position 10 with a 67.4 per cent rating, thanked the Lang’ata residents for the good rating.

Leeway Africa shared that they conducted the research in the first eight months when the lawmakers took office.

“No 10 is not bad for a first-time Mp in 8 months! I am sure tukiendelea hivi we will soon take our rightful position! Thank you my Langata people! Hapa ni kazi tu! Congratulations Hon Babu Owino,” he tweeted.

According to their research, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino takes the lead with 75.6 per cent, closely followed by his Runyenjes counterpart Karemba Muchangi who was rated 72.7.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro comes in third with a 70.2 per cent rating, then Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek at 70.1%. Tigania East Mpuru Aburi comes in fifth position with 69.8%.

The bottom five included; Wajir South MP Mohammed Abdikheir (64.7%), Lugari’s Nabii Nabwera (64.3%), South Mugirango’s Sylvanus Osoro (63.9%), Nyakach’s Aduma Owuor (63.7%), Bahati’s Irene Njoki rated at 62.0% and Onesmus Ngogoyo, the Kajiado North MP as the 20th parliamentarian to make it on the list with a 62.5 per cent rating.

Of the 290 constituencies, only three female MPs out of the 29 elected made to the list. They include Kisumu West’s MP Rozaah Buyu was rated 65.8%, followed by Rangwe’s Lilian Achieng with 65.2%, and Bahati’s Irene Njoki.

The polls come after Politrack Africa also made a similar research which showed the top-performing MPs eight months after being elected.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro topped the list. He lead the 20 with 73.7%, followed by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino with 72.7%. Kimilili’s Didimus Barasa and Mavoko’s Patrick Makau tie at position three with 70.6 per cent.
