Jazz maestro Jonathan Butler in Nairobi for Safaricom Festival

Renowned Jazz maestro Jonathan Butler is in town for the Safaricom international Jazz Festival. The Grammy award nominee will thrill fans at the Ngong Race course on Sunday.

Butler is the headline artist of the second Safaricom International Jazz Festival and will be joined by South Africa’s Jimmy Dludlu and other leading Jazz artists from different parts of the World including UK saxophonist Soweto Kinch, Israel band Tomer Bar and Belgian Nicolas Kummert, who have been in Nairobi this week in readiness for the February 22 concert.

“I’m excited to perform once again in Kenya. I promise my fans a jazz journey like no other. I’m urging all jazz enthusiasts to come out on Sunday and join us as we make beautiful music together,” he said.

INAUGURAL FESTIVAL

Safaricom Director of Marketing Rita Okuthe called on all jazz fans to be ready for a concert like no other.

“After the success of our inaugural Safaricom International Jazz Festival last year this year we want to give our fans an unforgettable experience. We aim to create a jazz culture in Kenya and make it a regional hub for musical purists who want the same experience they would get internationally here in Nairobi,” Okuthe said.

The event comes after a successful inaugural festival held last year where music Legends Richard Bona and Kunle Ayo performed.
