Jimmy Gait: Why I quit social media
Gospel artiste James, Ngaita Ngigi a.k.a Jimmy Gait has been noticeably absent from the music scene, leaving fans wondering about his whereabouts and the reasons behind his prolonged hiatus.
The renowned “Huratiti” hitmaker, known for his uplifting melodies and inspirational lyrics, has taken a step back from producing music and minimized his presence on social media platforms.
However, in a recent interview with Lynne Ngugi, Jimmy Gait shed light on his decision to retreat from the limelight and prioritise his spiritual journey.
“For me, I am more concerned about my eternity and not what people see or think,” Jimmy Gait expressed candidly.
“The reason I actually pulled out of social media and the limelight is because I wanted to come to terms with that reality. The reality of life is not in the physical realm but in the spiritual.”
Jimmy Gait explained that he sought to distance himself from the incessant noise and distractions prevalent on online platforms.
“What you wake up to do every day in the morning is not the reality,” he remarked.
“I stopped posting because I am no longer seeking validation. I wanted to disconnect from people’s perceptions and opinions about me.”
Acknowledging the pitfalls of fame, Jimmy Gait admitted that at one point, he allowed the trappings of success to cloud his judgment and divert him from his true purpose.
“When you have a lot of money, fame, and power, there is a very thin line between arrogance and confidence,” he cautioned. “At some point, I felt like I had it all. It’s easy to become controlling and lose sight of your impact.”
Reflecting on his journey, Jimmy Gait emphasized the importance of humility and staying grounded in one’s faith.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to refocus on his spiritual well-being and reconnect with his purpose.
“I am at a point where I would not care what people think about me or say about me. There was a time that would affect me. I would be affected by what people were saying and thinking about me,” he said.
