Joho throws a kingly feast to Victor Wanyama’s family – PHOTOS


Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Friday hosted Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama and his family to a  feast at the coastal city.

Nairobi News has learnt that Governor Joho extended an impromptu invite to Wanyama after learning that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was holidaying at the coast with family members and friends.

“The whole country is proud of what you (Wanyama) and Mariga are doing. Keep it up. It is an honour on behalf of the Coastal people for you to visit. I ask you to go and talk to your colleagues in England about how great Mombasa is, please urge them to come and visit when they find time,” Joho told Wanyama.

Also in attendance at the dinner was Wanyama’s mum Miriam and brothers Mariga and Thomas.

The date with Joho in Mombasa marked the last engagement for Wanyama, who flew out to England on Sunday evening to commence pre-season training in London.

During his month long holiday, Wanyama captained the national team to a 2-1 loss to Sierra Leone in Kenya’s opening engagement of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was later unveiled as Safaricom’s brand ambassador and then toured Tanzania’s capital Dar es Salaam for a holiday.

Wanyama and his Tottenham teammmates are set to tour the United States for pre-season friendly matches against Paris Saint Germain, AS Roma, Manchester City and Juventus.
