Jubilee MCAs declare an all out war on Sonko

April 4th, 2014 1 min read

County Reps allied to Jubilee have hit out at Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko for his attacks on Dr Evans Kidero’s administration.

They have threatened to move a motion to discuss the Senator’s conduct and performance next week.

Led by Jubilee Chief Whip Hashim Kamau and Minority Leader Abdi Guyo, the 20 Reps accused the Senator of fighting Governor Kidero’s policies unjustifiably.

“The Senator’s war with Dr Kidero is becoming personal. Why can’t he use the right channel to air his grievances? We shall censure him,” said Mr Kamau (California).

Underperformer

Mr Guyo (Spring Valley/ Matopeni) and his deputy Patrick Ngaruiya (Kahawa West) said Mr Sonko was free to use the Senate to air his views.

“We admit that he has an oversight role but we are totally opposed to the way he is fighting everything being done here. Let him use the senatorial committee to tell us where we have gone wrong,” said Mr Ngaruiya.

Speaking at a press conference in City Hall, the MCAs said Mr Sonko had not done anything meaningful for the county.

“What has he done at the Senate to improve Nairobi? We know he is an underperformer,” said Mr Peter Warutere (Roysambu).

Some MCAs also claimed that the Senator was using the provincial administration to frustrate them. Dandora Area 3 MCA Charles Thuo alias Gathundo said Mr Sonko was using the area DO to fight them.

“We shall also fight back,” he declared.

They even blamed the Senator for TNA’s loss in the gubernatorial race for Nairobi in the last elections. Dr Kidero of Cord beat Jubilee’s Ferdinand Clifford Waititu.
