Nairobi Jubilee MCAs vow to shoot down Miguna’s nomination
Nairobi’s Jubilee Ward Representatives have vowed to shoot down the nomination of lawyer Miguna Miguna as deputy governor.
Jubilee MCAs confirmed on Thursday that Governor Mike Sonko has settled on Dr Miguna – previously associated with the opposition coalition Nasa – as his deputy governor nominee.
They however will not approve the nomination because Dr Miguna is not a member of the Jubilee Party and has an ongoing row with the Immigration Department on his citizenship status.

Majority Leader Abdi Guyo told journalists on Thursday that Miguna will first have to be cleared by the Jubilee party in order to become the deputy governor.
Mr Guyo added that the fiery lawyer should also have his Kenyan citizenship reinstated before MCAs can deliberate on his nomination.
Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi threw a spanner to the works by declaring that she has not received any formal communication from Governor Sonko on the nomination of Dr Miguna.
Ms Elachi said the only a letter she has received is one from Dr Miguna’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta, which is unprocedural.
She added that Nairobi county assembly will follow the precedence set in the vetting and approval of Nyeri deputy governor.
