Jubilee picks team for IEBC Joint Committee talks


The Jubilee coalition has named 11 members to be part of the joint senate and national assembly select committee to deliberate on the IEBC issue.

The ruling coalition named senators, Kiraitu Murungi (Meru), Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Beatrice Elachi (Nominated) and Fatuma Dullo (Nominated).

Members of the National Assembly who will be part of the select committee will be; Cecile Mbarire (Runyenjes), Naomi Shaaban (Taita Taveta), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Jimmy Angweyi (Kitutu Chache), Ben Jomo Washiali (Mumias East), Eng. Mohammed Mahmoud (Mandera West) and Soipan Tuya (Narok).

The membership was agreed upon after the Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting held on Thursday as per the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s announcement on Wednesday.

State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu tweeted, “President @UKenyatta says Jubilee to forward its proposals on Joint Select Committee to Speakers of Parliament.”

Cord had earlier on nominated two Senators and three Members of Parliament to the team expected to initiate talks on the impasse over the composition of the IEBC.

The team includes Senators James Orengo (Siaya), Johnson Muthama (Machakos) and MPs Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren), Mishi Mboko (Mombasa) and Junet Mohammed (Suna East).
