Jubilee strategist Pauline Njoroge leaves Kenya after drama with DCI sleuths

Jubilee Party digital strategist, Ms Pauline Njoroge, has departed for Europe shortly after being involved in a dramatic arrest with investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The exact date of Ms Njoroge’s departure from Kenya remains unclear, but she announced on her official Facebook account that she was already on air, heading to Europe.

A week ago, Ms Njoroge, who has become a government critic, was apprehended by DCI investigators in Malindi, where she was held for two days.

In a long social media post, Ms Njoroge narrated how she was nabbed by the officers alongside her friend Ms Jane Nduta and their driver Emanze Jilani.

She accused the police officers of attempting to plant drugs in their hotel room and car with the aim of charging them with being in possession of illegal substances.

According to Ms Njoroge, things took a turn for the worse when she received an unexpected phone call urging her to urgently pick up some documents in the expansive town of Malindi.

This call left her deeply concerned, as she hadn’t informed anyone about her presence in Malindi.

Shortly after, her friend Ms Nduta also received a phone call, just an hour before the officers apprehended both of them.

The arrest occurred while they were en route to Gede Ruins, situated within Kilifi County.

“When we left the hotel we found a double cabin vehicle parked outside the resort. Nduta commented that the occupants had the demeanor of police officers but our driver Emmanuel told us they were probably just neighbours. We passed the vehicle and proceeded to join the tarmac road. We had hardly gone a kilometre before the very same vehicle blocked us on the road and asked us to follow them to Watamu Police Station,” part of the post by Ms Nduta read.

It was then that she went ahead and informed her lawyers about the arrest and who quickly rushed to the county located in the Coastal region.
