July 2: Kenya adds 268 new cases, caseload at 6,941


Kenya has added 268 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the caseload to 6,941.

Health CAS Rashid Aman said the latest cases are from 2,704 samples analysed in the last 24 hours, which is out of a total sample size of 176,659 tested so far.

Some 20 patients were discharged, raising the number of discharges in the country to 2,109.

The number of those who succumbed to the infections stands at 152 after three more people died in the last 24 hours.

“Today’s number consists of 259 Kenyans and 9 foreigners. 160 are male while 108 are female,” Dr Aman said on Thursday at Afya House.

According to the Health CAS, the youngest of the new positive cases is a one-year-old, while the oldest is 80.

Nairobi County leads with 175 cases followed by Mombasa with 28, Kajiado 9 and Machakos 6.
