Kenyans on Twitter demanding justice for murdered university student

Kenyans on Twitter are demanding justice following the death of university student Sharon Otieno whose lifeless body was found in Kodero forest in Homa Bay on Tuesday night.

The 26 year old second year student of Medical Records and Information at Rongo University went missing since Monday evening.

It later emerged that she had been kidnapped alongside Nation Journalist Barrack Oduor. Mr Oduor managed to escape but sustained serious injuries.

Sharon’s father Douglas Otieno on Wednesday confirmed to the Nation that he viewed his daughter’s body at the Oyugis Level Four Hospital in Oyugis at 1am.

KOT expressed their sadness to the tragic news urging the police to conduct a speedy investigation so that the culprits can be brought to justice according to the law.

@paulkenmost tweeted, “Extremely sad and tragic. Let us remember this family in prayers.”

@MwangiJmacs said, “Yaani in Kenya, killing people has become much easier that killing let alone slaughtering a chicken. And this is because, there is no penalty for murder here in Kenya! Kidogo kidogo tu na ni allegations, mtu anakufa!”

@KoechBenard wrote, “University students are currently some of the most endangered people in Kenya from people who kill intentionally.”

@bryson_robert7 commented, “Justice for a comrade.”

@WEREPhilip1 said, “God wanted the world to know the story from Oduor of NMG now we know let the @DCI_Kenya grill the man who kept changing venues Oh! God.”

@Aibnatu remarked, “What!? My deepest condolences to the family and friends. What was this about? @DCI_Kenya @NPSOfficial_KE hope this is investigated and brought to closure.”

@Adedeadedeh said, “Sharon Otieno was pregnant before her murder. Her body was found in Kodera forest in Oyugis. Who murdered Sharon? Was it a cover up so the father to her unborn child would never be known? #JusticeForSharon.”

@Mutasyadave said, “The sad part about the incident at Kodera Forest is, even if culprits take plea, a conviction might not happen. Unless we start seeing convictions of the big fish, most Kenyans are still at the mercy of their oppressors.”
