Justina Syokau’s Sh1m chain exposed: ‘Luxury gift’ costs less than Sh2,000
In a twist that has left fans and critics alike raising their eyebrows, gospel musician Justina Syokau’s claim of a Sh1 million chain gifted by her new husband has been debunked following a thorough fact-check by Nairobi News.
Our investigation revealed that the supposed luxurious jewelry, flaunted in a viral video by the ‘Twendi Twendi’ hitmaker, is nothing more than an extravagant tale.
The highest cost of the chain, upon close scrutiny, was found to be a meager Sh3,000. A quick search on AliExpress.com, an online marketplace, showed a similar gold-colored chain available for as little as Sh1,726.
In the now-viral video, a visibly pregnant Syokau proudly displays the alleged precious gift, attributing it to the love she showers on her new husband.
“I have received a gift, a chain worth Sh1 million,” she enthusiastically announces while cradling her pregnancy.
However, our investigation tells a different story.
About a month ago, in November 2023, Syokau made headlines when she publicly declared her quest for marriage.
Holding a placard on an undisclosed street in Nairobi, she sought a 25-year-old billionaire willing to pay billions as dowry, with the ambition to tie the knot before the end of 2024.
In a detailed description of her expectations, the singer outlined a three-day marriage plan.
On the first day, her ideal man should gift her a diamond ring; on the second day, pay a dowry worth Sh2 billion. And on the third day, organise a luxurious wedding on a yacht in Dubai, complete with a private jet as a wedding gift.
If Syokau’s words are taken at face value, this would mark her second marriage. Her first, a church wedding in 2012, ended in separation due to what she described as infidelity. The union produced a son.
As the controversy surrounding the Sh1 million chain unfolds, fans and the public await Justina Syokau’s response to the fact-check revelations.
