Justina Wamae confirms political ‘divorce’ with Wajackoyah

She also confirmed the move on social media.

“I have voluntarily resigned so they can now eat hot air. Watch this space,” she wrote.

Her resignation comes amid endless wrangles with the party leader. The pair unsuccessfully contested the presidency in the August 2022 polls.

Wamae’s resignation has since been confirmed by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

“According to the records held by this office as of 22nd September 2022, Justina Wangui Wamae is not a member of any political party,” Anne Nderitu, the Registrar, confirmed.

The move brings to an end the feud between Ms Wamae and Prof Wajackoyah which started towards the end of the campaign period ahead of the August 9, 2022 polls.

In the height of their disagreement, Prof Wajackoyah dropped Ms Wamae as the deputy party leader and replaced her with Vinod Ramji.

Prof Wajackoyah finished third behind eventual winner William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

His party also failed to win any elective seat.
