Kagame attends Museveni son’s birthday bash

Rwanda President Paul Kagame was among guests at the hyped birthday bash of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The celebrations took place over the weekend in Kampala.

They included a party at the Lugogo grounds, a marathon, and dinner at State House also attended by Muhoozi’s father and mother Janet.

It was Kagame first visit to Kampala in four years, coming at the back of political tension between both Presidents which breflky led to the closure of the Uganda, Rwanda border.

The event was however not short of critics.

Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago dismissed the celebrations as part of a hype to aid the 48-year-old birthday to succeed his father who has ruled the East African country for three and a half decades.

“What an insult to Ugandans, especially those peasants in Luwero triangle and other parts of the country who sacrificed their lives and property for the sake of restoring political sanity in our motherland.”

“Why abuse our resources and intelligence, the military laws and code of conduct just to launch a lackluster political project!? Banana Republic!” He added.

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is also a senior member of the Ugandan army.

The Lugogo Cricket Oval event led to a closure of roads in the Ugandan capital by police so as to control traffic.

Also attending the birthday event was a couple of musicians and guests from Rwanda.
