Kakamega tycoon Cleophas Shimanyula reads foul play in Senator Khalwale caretaker’s death

Mr Cleophas Shimanyula, a Kakamega County tycoon with a hefty portfolio in sports, construction, real estate and transportation industries, has called on authorities to investigate the sudden death of a caretaker who until his death was attached Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale’s farm.

Mr Moi’s job description entailed looking after the politician’s fighting bulls including the famed Inasio, that ended up killing him.

Mr Shimanyula, in an interview with the media, has termed the death suspicious. He authoritatively alleged it was not the bull that killed Mr Moi.

Initial reports had it that Inasio gored Mr Moi, 47, to death at the Senator’s Malinya home in Ikolomani Constituency.

The body was discovered within the bull’s stall and spotted several injuries believed to have been caused by the bull’s horn.

Mr Shimanyula, however, opposed this finding, saying the injuries did not align with a bull’s horn causing them.

Senator Khalwale claimed Mr Moi could have been drunk at the time of the incident and potentially provoked Inasio which reacted aggressively and gored him.

Mr Moi had been in Senator Khalwale’s employment for 20 years taking care of his bulls.

Following the death, Senator Khalwale resorted to killing Inasio by spearing it to death as part of a cultural ritual practice.

Mr Shimanyula and Senator Khalwale have a political beef dating back years.

The two have often been quoted in media throwing jabs and accusations at each other. In one instance, Senator Khalwale claimed Mr Shimanyula had grabbed government land next to Bukhungu Stadium but he denied the accusations, saying Khalwale was simply jealous and that the land was rightfully his.

In another instance, Mr Shimanyla claimed Senator Khalwale was paid Sh 10 million to drop his 2022 Kakamega gubernatorial aspirations in favor of Cleophas Malala.

He went on to explain that Khalwale was given a down payment of Sh 3 million by President William Ruto to get Malala the seat and allegedly stop him for his continued push for Musalia Mudavadi to be Ruto’s running mate at the time.
