Kalekwa: Timbe is going nowhere
Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa on Wednesday refuted claims that the club’s Ugandan head coach Sam Timbe is unsettled at the club and could be on his way out when his contract runs out on August 30.
Speculation had been rife that the soft spoken tactician who has earned a lot of respect in the local football scene may not link up with the team in the second leg even after Timbe returned to the country last week after a prolonged holiday in his native country.
“We have no problem with him (Timbe). He has done a good job, and once his contract runs out at the end of next month, we will sit down and talk,” Kalekwa said during an interview with Daily Nation Sport.
NON-COMMITTAL
Early last week Timbe, in a separate interview with Daily Nation, was non-committal on his future.
Timbe led Sofapaka to a runner’s position in the league last season as well as the GOtv Shield trophy.
At the same time, Kalekwa said that he will push for the renewal of the shirt sponsorship with Blue Triangle once the current deal runs out mid next year.
The cement manufacturing firm have been the team’s shirt sponsors for the last three years.
