Kanye West the diva: Full length mirror and raw asparagus
American rapper Kanye West exposed his diva side last week when he reportedly gave a lengthy list of bizarre requests that included raw asparagus, tea bags, hummus and full-length mirror ahead of his speech at the prestigious Oxford University.
Kanye, who according to Forbes has a net worth of Sh11.8 billion ($130 million), is said to have demanded bottles of water with the labels removed.
The latter is standard for celebrities who do not want to endorse brands free of charge.
But for the mirror, since the organizing committee couldn’t buy one at short notice, one girl just had to carry hers out of her room.
UNCANNY LIST
The 37-year-old American rapper, who is married to socialite Kim Kardashian, came up with the uncanny list of demands ahead of his half-an-hour speech at the Oxford Guild Society at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
“He wanted Volvic water bottles with the labels removed, a small veggie platter, hummus, and hot water,” The Tab newspaper quoted Guild Chairman Abbas Kazmi.
“He also wanted a small variety of tea bags, double espresso available to be made if requested, and raw asparagus. He asked for a full sized mirror too. He’s an interesting guy, but it was all quite bizarre.”
Kanye told the students: “My goal, if I was going to do art, fine art, would have been to become Picasso or greater. That always sounds so funny to people, comparing yourself to someone who has done so much, and that’s a mentality that suppresses humanity.”
