Karen Nyamu explains her ties to Nyandarua at Senator Methu’s dad’s funeral

In a heartfelt tribute delivered at the burial ceremony of Michael Maigo Wawerù, the father of Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Nairobi Senator Karen Nyamu expressed her condolences and celebrated the enduring ties she shares with the late Wawerù’s family.

The burial took place on Tuesday, January 1, following Michael Wawerù’s passing in December 2023.

President William Ruto and Deputy Rigathi Gachagua were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony, which saw Nyamu taking the stage to share her sentiments.

“Senator Methu, you are also my Senator because I have very strong ties with this country,” Karen declared, prompting cheers and laughter from the gathered audience.

Continuing her address, Karen Nyamu acknowledged her connection with the region, mentioning that popular Mugithi singer Samidoh, who hails from Nyandarua, was present at the event.

“Even during Christmas, I was here. I celebrated it here. I may not have met the late Waweru, but we have seen the fruits of his labor from his children, particularly my friend Methu,” she remarked.

Offering her reflections on the kind of person Michael Wawerù might have been, Karen playfully speculated, “I think I have an idea of the kind of man he was, and maybe he did not take things too seriously. Just like his son, Methu, likes to joke all the time. I’m not sure. But I can just imagine. Because of Methu.”

Meanwhile, Edday Nderitu, the ex-wife of Mugithi singer Samidoh, took a moment to reflect on the past year, expressing gratitude for the lessons learned and personal growth experienced in 2023.

In her New Year post, Edday shared, “Looking back at 2023, it was a year of ups and downs, but one thing remained constant: the grace of God guiding my path of life (Psalms 16:11).

I discovered the importance of self-love and the beauty it brings,” part of Edday Nderitu’s New Year post read.

Now, as 2024 unfolds, my heart is filled with gratitude, I am grateful for the lessons learned and eager to experience personal growth, seek knowledge, and nourish my soul with happiness. Get ready, because greatness. John 1:16 AMP. For out of His fullness, we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing], favour upon favour, and gift heaped upon gift,” wrote Edday.

Over Christmas, a video of Edday dancing went viral. In the video, she could be seen having the time of her life.
