Karen Nyamu: I don’t regret creating a scene in Dubai nightclub

Nominated senator Karen Nyamu has said she does not regret anything of what transpired in Dubai.

Speaking in an interview on Vybz Radio Ms Nyamu also said regardless of public perception, she is not a drunkard.

“Whom was alcohol made for? The thing is you know guys think that I am a drunkard. I’m not a drunkard. My drink is Heineken but that day in Dubai I drank spirits… and I don’t drink everyday, I’m a social drinker. That day was wild but I do not regret anything… Kwani tei ilitengenezewe nani… the thing is you know guys think that I’m a drunkard, but I’m not a drunkard… Hiyo siku it was wild but I dont regret anything,” Ms Nyamu said.

Early last month, Senator Nyamu was recorded on viral videos causing a scene in a Dubai nightclub where her married baby daddy, vernacular singer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, was performing. Samidoh is married to his wife of 12 years, Edday Nderitu.

During the performance, the senator forced her way to the stage to dance alongside Samidoh before he had bouncers attempt to throw her off the stage.

Later, she would seek out Samidoh, who was seated at a booth with his wife, before she headed towards him, appeared to argue with him and forced herself to sit in his lap. Her actions prompted a nasty confrontation with Samidoh’s wife.

In the wake of the viral videos, a section of Kenyans called out Ms Nyamu’s behaviour as they called for the revocation of her appointment as a Senator, saying she was embarrassing the country and the United Democratic Alliance party, which nominated her.

Ms Nyamu would later offer half-hearted apologies before turning to her Instagram stories to announce she had broken up with Samidoh.

On December 19, 2022, the UDA party summoned her for a disciplinary hearing set for December 23, 2022. The minutes and resolutions from the meeting are yet to be made public.
