Want-away AFC Leopards midfielder Allan Katerrega is on the verge of leaving the club, Nairobi News understands.

The dread-locked player is set to complete a move to Ugandan champions KCCA, Leopards treasurer Oliver Napali confirmed.

“He is joining them on loan until December which is the best possible deal for both parties as it stands,” said Napali.

KCCA coach Mike Mutebi also confirmed the player’s impending arrival.

“We expect to have him by this weekend,” Mutebi told leading Ugandan sports site Kawowo Sports.

“His arrival will bring competition in the number 10 area where we have Allan Okello and Jackson Nunda at the moment.

TROUBLE

Katerrega has yet to feature for Leopards since that public bust-up with coach Robert Matano during the team’s solitary goal loss to Bandari in a league fixture on August 6.

The former Ushuru midfielder has since been ordered by the management to stay away from training and opted to relocate to his native Uganda.

The skillful Katerrega has impressed in phases at Leopards since joining the club last year, but got into trouble for publicly questioning Matano’s decision to substitute him against Bandari 20 minutes after he was introduced in the match as a second-half substitute.

He was spotted walking towards Matano at the dugout while shrugging his shoulders and at some point he had to be pulled away from the coach by his teammates at the bench.
