KCB stun Thika, Sony switch off Stima

Paul Kiongera claimed a hat trick as Kenya Commercial Bank overpowered Thika United 3-2 in Kenyan Premier League match in Thika on Saturday.

The bankers, who have lately been on a resurgence, now move two places up the log to position 12 on 20 points from 21 matches.

Kiongera opened his account in the 20th minute before adding the second in the 37th minute. He then completed his hat trick eight minutes after the interval to take home the match ball.

Thika, who trailed 3-0 at one point, clawed way back into the match with goals from Raymond Onyango (60th min) and Mwinyi Kibwana (67th min).

CLUMSY DISPLAY

Thika coach, Tim Brytte, blamed his charges for a clumsy display.

“The individual mistakes cost us the game. We are making life very difficult for ourselves,” Brytte lamented.

At the Kisumu County Stadium, Sony Sugar recorded their second win on the bounce as they beat Western Stima 2-0.

The sugar millers were 2-1 winners over AFC Leopards in their last match and on Saturday, Samuel Onyango headed in a Justin Monad free kick to open the scores in the 48th minute before veteran striker Marwa Chamberi confirmed victory deep in stoppage time.
