KCSE candidate gang-raped at dawn as she walked to school for exams

Police in Molo, Nakuru county are holding a man suspected to have raped a Form Four candidate as she made her way to school on Thursday morning.

The student from Molo Secondary School was in company of two female candidates when the incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, Molo OCPD Mr Daniel Makenzi said the incident occurred at around 4:30am as the candidates were headed to school for the morning preparations ahead of today’s exam.

A gang of three men waylaid them and dragged the victim to a nearby bush where they gang raped her.

The two other students escaped.

WALKED TO POLICE STATION

The girl then walked to the local police station where she reported the matter.

The OCPD said the suspect was apprehended by members of the public who found him committing the vile act.

“The suspect who was in the company of two others gang-raped the school girl but in the process, members of the public managed to arrest him and brought him to the police station,” said the OCPD.

Mr Makenzi added that two of his accomplices are still at large.

The OCPD added that the female student was taken to Molo sub- county hospital where she was treated and counselled.

COMMENDED OFFICERS

Molo secondary school principal Robert Mwangi commended police officers who handled the matter.

“The police (officers) handled it professionally and made the student feel safe enough to come to class,” said Mr Mwangi.

He added that the student was treated and managed to get to the exam room in time to prepare for the day’s exam (English paper 3).

“The student was back in class at around 8am where she sat for her paper with the other students”, he added.
